  • Do you want explore how working with an artist may increase your audiences and funding sources?
  • Do you want some mentoring support to get your grant application right?

If you answer “Yes!” to any of these questions then one of these free workshops is definitely for you and your museum.

Funded by Arts Council England and designed particularly for independent and smaller public museums, these workshops will give you guidance on non-heritage funding sources and the “hands on” sessions will provide you with the tips and advice on how to put a great grant application together. The workshops will also explore how best to work with artists to create exciting programmes that could increase your audiences and grant giving partners, as arts activities can be supported through a range of open access grants and programmes.

Mentoring sessions will be available a few weeks after each workshop so you can talk through your grant application and get advice before you submit.

These workshops will be led by Fiona Mitchell-Innes and the artist Laura Baxter.  Fiona has worked in museums and arts organisations all her career, from small local museums to the Natural History Museum, and for Arts Council England.  She now works freelance for arts and heritage organisations and she delivers support for Accreditation in the West Midlands, South West and London.  Laura Baxter is a renowned contemporary artist, specialising in jewellery but also making large bespoke installation pieces for a number of museums across the country.  Between them Fiona and Laura will explore how you can best access money for creative projects and how you should work with artists to get the best results for your museums, your collections and your audiences.
