23rd June at Hartlebury for National Gypsy, Roma, Traveller History Month

Travellers’ Tales:  Sunday 23rd June 11.00am-5.00pm

 

An annual celebration of Traveller Heritage at Hartlebury

 

  • See our fabulous collection of Gypsy Caravans in the Transport Gallery and Museum Volunteer Ced Lewis’ beautifully crafted ¾ scale model, “Bita Rawni”.
  • Enjoy performances by Folk MusicianAndy Casserley as he wanders around the site
  • Watch Falconry Displays from Hagley Falconry in the Carriage Circle at 12.30 & 2.00pm & 3.00pm
  • Join Storyteller Richard O’Neill for true Travellers Tales in the Saloon at 11.30am, 1.00pm, 2.30 & 3.30pm
  • Join in traditional crafts in the Orchard area and around the Cider Mill. Make a willow fish or Gypsy flower with Helen Munday and Ron Smart
  • Meet groups from the Worcestershire Gypsy Roma Traveller Partnership and friends in the Great Hall. Includes “Through a Child’s Eyes” – an exhibition from The  National Gypsy Traveller Federation
  • Join in a Craft Activity or two in the Great Hall courtesy of Worcestershire Children’s Services for Gypsy, Roma and Traveller Children, Young People and Families

 

Refreshments are available in the museum cafe and Orchard area. Some activities may move indoors if the weather is poor.
